Chaunhi Van M.D., F.A.A.O.

Chaunhi Van, M.D. is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with expertise in medical and surgical management of eye diseases including but not limited to cataracts, glaucoma, eyelid lesions, dry eye, diabetes, blepharospasm and age-related macular degeneration. She has a special interest in premium cataract surgery and botox.

Dr. Van was born in New Orleans, Louisiana but grew up in Florida. She became a gator when she attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate degree in biology. She then attended the University of Central Florida College of Medicine for medical school. After graduating medical school, she worked in a pathology lab and did research on ocular melanomas at the University of Iowa as an ophthalmic pathology fellow. Following an internship at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA, she completed her ophthalmology residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health in nearby Winston-Salem, NC. She practiced for a few years in Florida and is excited to return to North Carolina after realizing how much she missed it and is ecstatic to be joining Hecker Eye Associates.

Dr. Van’s personal philosophy regarding her patients: “I believe that every patient deserves the best eye care. A respectful, supportive physician-patient relationship is a key part of that care. I am dedicated to provide great service to my patients by implementing up-to-date medical advancements with the latest technology.”

When she is not at work, Dr. Van loves spending time with her dog, hiking, going to the beach, kayaking, sailing, cooking, travelling and practicing the piano.
